Giving Tuesday 2023

Welcoming Refugee Families With Dignity

As you may have heard in recent news cycles, there has been a continuous influx of migrant bus arrivals in cities across the United States. Our beloved Los Angeles has also experienced a surge in bus arrivals, with numerous migrant families arriving in our city from the state of Texas. Notably, the month of October marks over 25 buses that CARECEN has welcomed with love and dignity. CARECEN also condemns any actions endangering migrants and refugees, urging governments at all levels to protect the vulnerable with dignity and end the use of asylum seekers and refugees as political pawns.

As we near the onset of the Giving Tuesday & holiday season, we've observed a surge in the frequency of bus arrivals. In certain cases, CARECEN and the LA Welcomes Collective have had to accommodate 2-3 buses arriving on the same day, emphasizing the urgency for more substantial efforts. Despite receiving limited advance notice, our dedicated rapid response team has admirably mobilized to provide immediate assistance to these families.

However, these efforts wouldn't have been possible without the invaluable support from our community. As we continue to face the challenge of increased arrivals, we depend on your ongoing support to be prepared for more significant undertakings in the future.

Every donation makes a meaningful difference, ensuring that migrant families receive essential provisions such as food, water, and hygiene kits. Please consider making a one-time or monthly contribution to sustain our rapid response initiatives during this holiday season. Your generous contributions, no matter the amount, play a crucial role in our mission.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your compassion and unwavering commitment to welcoming migrant families with kindness and dignity. Together, we can make a positive impact on their lives. Thank you.
